Jennie Haymond began her campaign on a pledge to fight crime, honor victims’ rights and protect and strengthen our community. Her dedication to the law is guided by the belief that our criminal justice system is a great tool to fight for our families and public safety. If elected, Jennie has stated her commitment to holding criminals accountable while seeking innovative strategies to reduce substance abuse and protect the health, safety and quality of life for Madison County residents, especially children.
Legal Expertise
Jennie is a Chief Assistant Prosecutor and Associate Attorney.
As Chief Assistant Prosecutor for the Estill County Attorney’s Office, Jennie has prosecuted all criminal and juvenile cases coming through Estill County since she took up the role in 2008. Her work has included the prosecution of theft, drug, DUI, juvenile, assault and other violent conduct cases and enforcing the state and county ad valorem powers. Jennie is also an Associate Attorney with Davis Law, P.S.C. in Richmond where she practices civil law with a focus in commercial litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice and debtor-creditor relations. Her prior experience includes time as an Assistant Prosecutor for the Madison County Attorney’s Office in Richmond and as an Associate Attorney for Deatrick & Spies, P.S.C. in Louisville.
Jennie is licensed to practice law in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, as well as before the U.S. District Courts for Eastern and Western Kentucky and the United States Supreme Court. She is president of the Estill County Bar Association and past president of the Madison County Bar Association.
Education
Jennie graduated with honors from EKU and the University of Louisville School of Law.
Jennie received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and passed the Kentucky bar in 2005. Prior to this, Jennie received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University. While in school, Jennie spent time clerking in the 25th Judicial District (Madison and Clark counties).

Jennie is a member of many professional associations including EKU’s College of Justice & Safety Alumni Society Board of Directors (President).
Jennie is currently a member of the following local organizations and committees: EKU College of Justice & Safety Alumni Society Board of Directors (President), Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Berea Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Madison County, Inc. Board of Directors (Treasurer), Madison County Republican Party Executive Committee (Vice-Chair), Madison County Republican Women’s Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass (Board Member), Kiwanis Club of Richmond Board of Directors, Hope’s Wings Board of Directors, POPS at the Park Committee (Chair).
Additionally, Jennie coached the mock trial teams for Madison Central High School and Clark-Moores Middle School for several years while maintaining her practice in Madison County. Jennie enjoys helping grow and inspire our youth – the next generation of legal minds – and every opportunity she is given to make a positive impact in her community.
